Full Stack Developer
While obtaining a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance, I wasn't sure where life was going to take me. I worked my way up to the title of manager in the service industry, but still, I yearned for a new challenge. As time went on, I considered my options: pursuing a master's degree, finding a new job, or changing careers altogether. Eventually, after lamenting over my dilemma with a close friend, he asked, "Have you ever considered coding?". "Don't you need a crazy amount of school for that?" I asked. He then proceeded to explain how diverse coding had become, how different backgrounds are constantly welcome and, most importantly, he gave me all the resources I could ask.
That day in late 2016 was when I became curious about this coding thing. Thanks to heaps of meet-ups, in-person and online courses, web searches, and the help of my coding friends, I gained knowledge of programming and was ready to take it to another level.
I started down a path which was notorious for its highs and lows. I resigned myself to a future of frustration being followed by fulfillment. I signed up for a Coding Bootcamp and graduated from DigitalCrafts' full-time immersive coding bootcamp in January of 2018. Afterwards, after a year of spending 40+ hours a week coding, taking online courses, building projects and expanding my knowledge, I started applying for jobs and landed my first opportunity as a Senior Software Developer for AT&T. I began my journey there in December 2018, and I've been working daily to continue to improve and constantly learn since.

Movies With React is an app built using React, SVG, AWS and The Movie Database API. When you first land on the main page, it shows you a list of newly released movies. You may also use the search bar to find specific movies. When you click on a movie, it will give you various information about it such as the release date, the rating, genre, a brief summary, and the cast. I'm a big movie person so I wanted to be able to stay up to date with all the new releases and this app does exactly that. (Click image for GitHub & Live Demo)
